Neotame - One new artificial sweetener
Neotame is an artificial sweetener that is between 7,000 and 13,000 times sweeter than sucrose. It is moderately heat-stable, extremely potent, rapidly metabolized, completely eliminated, and does not appear to accumulate in the body.
Suggested uses/applications: Sweetener, flavour enhancer.

1) High sweetness, low calorie
It is 7,000-13,000 times as sweet as sucrose, very low level of calories, safe for the obese, diabetic patients.
2) High solubility
12.6g/L at room temperature in water, 950 g/L solubility in alcohol.
3) Good Stability
It is very stable in both dry and acidic environment. It is particularly stable in hydrous food system. A large number of studies have shown that the neotame applies to all of the people, including children and gravidas.
4) Flavor enhancer
Neotame has a similar taste to that of sucrose, and besides, it offers a taste of coolness. It can maintain and even increase the sweetness, saltiness, acidity as an additive. And it can mitigate and block some offensive tastes such as bitterness and astringency, and pungent tastes.
5) Low cost
The cost of neotame is much lower than that of aspartame. In beverage products, 20% nutritional sweetener or high intensity sweetener can be replaced by neotame.
Application
1) Food: Bakery, dairy products, chewing gum, ice cream, canned food, preserves, pickles, condiments and so on.
2) Compounding with other sweeteners
Neotame can be used together with some of the reducing sugar and high intensity sweeteners.
3) Toothpaste and cosmetics
With neotame in the toothpaste, we can achieve refreshing effect under the precondition of being harmless to our health. Meanwhile, neotame also can be used in cosmetics such as lipstick, lip gloss and so on.
4) Cigarette filter
With the addition of neotame, the sweetness of the cigarette lasts longer.
5) Medicine
Neotame can be added into the sugar coating and hides the taste of pills.
